In heaven we won't know our loved ones?

I was told by someone who is in high authority in the Catholic Church that when we arrive in heaven, we will not know any of our family or friends and not care that we do not. This is a depressing thought for me.

First of all, how would this person know. Secondly, why care so much about these people when we will not know them after we die. Then others say people in heaven pray for us. I am confused.

Hi,

That person sound high alright, but not in the way you meant it. Whoever it is, the person is wrong. There is no such teaching in the Catholic Church. We will be united in heaven in a way that we never could be here. God will be the direct source of our union. Even here, the closer we are to Him, the closer we are to each other. But there we will be totally aware of this.
