Who are the Carthusians and what is their mission? I see them as being entrusted with great divinely given wisdom, knowledge, and understanding and who are greatly blessed by the graces of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Their purpose: To keep alive great secrets vital to the Catholic Church from generation to generation only to eventually die of old age without uttering a word.

I have the DVD called “Into Great Silence”. Someone requested of the Abbot to come to the Grand Chartreuse and make a film about their life. Sixteen years later the Abbot responded, saying he could come, and made certain restrictions.

The film is awesome. Everytime I watch it it blesses me like I have been on a retreat. I have shown it to friends and relatives and they have been blessed by it also.

Through their prayers and disciplined life they obtain graces for many others out there in the world, and for themselves as well.

No it does not. It is pure speculation on your part worded in a way in your OP as if it is a fact. It is not.

And it’s pure speculation on your part that I do not know what I’m talking about. Nobody’s forcing you to believe anything.
 
I would say that the utility of secrets is on the edge of Gnosticism.
 
St. Bonaventure commented on the parable of the servant who hid his coin in a napkin. He says, “Now preaching happens in a negligent manner when the gift of wisdom is hidden and concealed.” (Com on Lk, ch. 19) He quotes Jeremiah, “Cursed be the person who does the work of the Lord in a negligent manner and who withholds his sword from blood.” (Jer 48:10) The Lord would not put this extra burden on a Carthusian, for they are commanded to leave expectations of preaching. Wherefore, the Lord would not give wisdom for the use of preaching to the Church. It would go against his Word. The wisdom they are concerned with is stillness and penitence. Granted it there are books from authors called ‘a Carthusian’ but this in practice is not encouraged because it is just not practical to the charism. The utility of such books is up for debate.
 
Sorry about my excessive presence. The Glossa Ordinaria says on Ez 3:18, “It is very risky to hide the words of God.” Now, even though the mother charterhouse needed to be rebuilt seven or so times since its founding. I would say that the Carthusians who never were reformed know well their security, despite the large decrease of Charterhouses in Europe. Therefore it is improbable that they hide ‘secrets’ or words of God vital to the Church. For if they did they would run opposed to a very high risk. And that is not the case. In fine, their silence is true and well ordered in the betterment of the Church.
 
They build up the Body of Christ!

So many times in distress I would suddenly have a brilliant idea and I would say to myself…this is due to someone in a monastery praying!

You said it was your OPINION. By definition that means it is not a fact but in your OP you did not state it was an opinion. It was only when I challenged you you admitted it was only an opinion.
I have no problem with you or anyone expressing their opinion but do not try to dress it up as a fact. State its your opinion then we all know (you did not do this in your OP).
