You said it was your OPINION. By definition that means it is not a fact but in your OP you did not state it was an opinion. It was only when I challenged you you admitted it was only an opinion.
I have no problem with you or anyone expressing their opinion but do not try to dress it up as a fact. State its your opinion then we all know (you did not do this in your OP).
An opinion can be based on fact. As a Catholic do you believe that God can reveal things to whoever He wishes?

Thank you for making this thread … I found it very inspirational.

I bought it many years ago, and watch it about twice a year by myself. In my opinion, it is worth it!
Hi Dorothy :),

I just wanted to let you know that I ordered the DVD last night, and I wanted to say thanks for the recommendation. I’ll give a review here in the thread after I’ve had a chance to digest it. Anyway though, I’m quite excited and looking forward to it! 🙂 There sure was a lot of love expressed for it in those Amazon reviews.

It’s a wonderful film, but please buy it from a Catholic source. No point in enriching amazon if we can help keep Monasteries and Catholic bookstores thriving. 👍

Oh, I know! 😦 I feel bad about that, because it was like an hour or so after I’d already placed the order that I realized I should have done it the way you described. And then after that, I looked at the Amazon page more closely, and I saw that even though I have Prime membership it won’t even be shipped until it’s back in stock on (I think) the 25th!

I do buy a pretty fair amount of stuff from Catholic publishers and bookstores, though, so I’m trying not to feel too bad about it. What happened was, I was reading all these Amazon reviews, and then I started looking at a whole ton of these other documentaries which I had never even heard of, but which were linked to the Carthusian Amazon page, and then I just clicked buy without thinking about. It’s okay; I just kind of wish it would get here sooner rather than later.

The video arrived today! 🙂 I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, though. I’m going to wait 'til tomorrow and watch it on Sunday. It’s certainly a beautiful object, and packaged very attractively with a brilliantly composed photo or still on the cover, making really effective use of light. Yep, it definitely looks well put together, and it also has a second DVD of special features. I was hoping for maybe a booklet of some kind, but I’m guessing that was perhaps deliberately left out so that the film itself could stand on it’s own.

May you have many blessings as you watch and take it in.

Thanks Dorothy, that’s awful sweet and kind of ya! 🙂 Alas, this DVD, with it’s beautiful cover, has been sitting on my desk right next to me for like a month or more. For some reason I haven’t watched it yet. I don’t know what my problem is… :shrug:I want to watch it, and yet I somehow haven’t brought myself around to it yet… I dunno. I’ve watched a number of exceedingly toxic Netflix comedies which would probably make someone with Tourette’s syndrome blush. I recently watched Point Break, with Keanu Reeves as a surfing FBI agent, Gary Busey as his wise older partner, and Patrick Swayze as a thrill seeking bank robber. (And those were the good actors.) The other day I watched Harlok: Space Pirate, which was actually pretty darn great, and would’ve been even greater were I ten years old. And I’ve watched even dumber stuff… But for some reason I can’t bring myself around to watch what I’ve no doubt is a very well done film… Alas, I don’t know what my problem is. Hopefully I’ll watch it soon…

When the right time comes you will watch it. I remember the very first time I watched it, for the first few minutes I was perplexed, and then I got drawn into it. Since then I watch about a half hour or more of it every now and then. It helps me to quiet down, and also to be aware that an explosion of graces is coming out of that community to be applied where the Lord wants it to go.
