I am a transfer junior to a university this year, I have been getting involved with the Catholic Disciples group on campus and have gone to Mass. I am baptized but not in the Catholic Church. I have been going to Mass off and on for about two years now and have been doing some studying on the church.

I was curious though I know I am not to take communion but are there any other restrictions to what I can and cannot do? Such as bow or kneel, cross myself, go to adoration ect.

I would appreciate as much feed back as possible on this, thanks!

Hey.

So, you’re not Catholic. You’re correct that you can’t receive Communion or the other Sacraments. However, as far as participation in the other stuff–Rosary, kneeling, Sign of the Cross, adoration, bowing, stuff like that–do as much of it as you want.

Are you interested in converting?

Yeah, it is hard for me to explain to people what I am because for one I am Christian but I lean heavily in favor of Catholicism so I end up saying something like yes and no when I am asked if I am Catholic haha

You should talk to the local parish where you attend Mass about attending RCIA to learn more about the Catholic faith.

Good question!!

Thanks for the good answer.
I wish someone had advised me. I was left to guess and erred on the side of just watching out of respect, which was good; partaking would have better.

You can not participate in the sacramental life of the Church, you IDd that correctly. Outside of that, there isn’t really much of a restriction if your looking to get involved in parish life. Have you considered talking to an RCIA or Priest for instruction?

The only thing you can’t do is receive the Sacraments. I hope you are able to continue making progress, the Catholic Church is a great place to be. But you have to take it seriously. Many good vocations come from Campus ministries.

The OP should definitely go to adoration.

Prayer is the number one response to God’s offer of love, and adoration in the sacramental presence of Jesus Christ is an amazingly sublime place to pray.

I pray in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament with a non-Catholic in every Thursday for a half hour. She has become very fond of it and looks forward to it every week, and I had to ask, “Where do you think that feeling is coming from?” I know that such feelings come from Jesus.

Whenever Mary appears, the first thing she says is “Pray, pray, pray.”

Prayer is the battlefield where the Holy Spirit begins His work on our souls, and we have to learn to be docile and still so that the Holy Spirit can work. Learning to be quiet and still in the presence of God takes a long time and can sometimes be extremely tedious. Adoration teaches us exactly that, to be quiet, still and not to worry. Prayer is where the Holy Spirit works on us, in the quiet recesses of our soul, in a way that can’t be percieved.

Yes, definitely go to adoration.
