In Islam, Is Allah considered unchangeable?

Hi Paarsurrey, I’m sorry if my semantics confused you. You quoted me, "the Word of God can’t have a major change, but little or minor changes or admissable in the Word of God. In the NT Bible, there is a seeming discrepancy when Jesus foretells that he will die and be raised up in three days. So, by Western counting Jesus was in the grave for only a day and a half, from Good Friday until early Sunday morning. Well, a guy could almost rent a coffin from a Rent-A-Tomb company, for that amount on time, but not the three days, how come the difference. However, it’s the difference in understanding of ways of counting the dates, from the Friday evening, through the Saturday, and then into the early hours of the Sunday. Bingo, 3 days!! Yet, I have heard this argument more than once from different Christians. Or I learned as a artist that Michaelangelo the scuplture, put horns on his famous statue of Moses the Lawgiver, because the translation that he had and took literally talked about the horns that pierced from the prophet’s head as he was seem coming down the mountain to deliver the original 10 commandments. So today you can observe the seated statue of Moses holding the 10 commandments with these two horns projecting from his hair. I’m sure that the sculpture and the translator must have had a rather amusing discussion over just maybe RAYS of light should be considered instead of horns. Looks like the translator in those pre-scientific times won.

Ahmadhassan, Greetings. Some how my thread got lost, so here is an abbreviated version. About the property owners and their making decisions as representing the principle of abrogation. However, these were mere men and subject to change, that is why we Catholics believe that man can have a change of heart and ask for forgiveness and turn his to God and gain heaven, even on his deathbed. But Allah and his realm, is beyond time so all is eternal within his mind. What do we make of the Angels in Allah’s realm? Some of them made a decision to rebel, and on that one choice cast their fate with the devil into hell. As for Aisha stating that if God started out with a command not to drink, not to kill, etc. then not to many people would have followed Allah’s path. Yet even thou the Jews reacted in a negative fashion and were forced to wander for 40 years, God still issued those 10 commandments. Or take just some of Jesus’s many commands like those listed in Matthew 5:17-48 against anger, impurity, divorce, or taking oaths. Those are very difficult, but you can see that in both the OT and NT Bibles that Allah set a standard by which man had to abide. In fact, Jesus really tightens up on the standards and yet the early Christians as a whole persevered under persecution and yet grew greatly within the first 300 years.
Now about abrogation in the Bible. I will focus on what I am more familiar with - the New Testament. Please remember, that Matt. 5:17-19 which states,“I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill … Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till ALL BE FULFILLED” talks about fulfillment, and Catholics believe that Jesus being the Messiah was also the Son of God. So the Word of God had come to earth in human form, thus the Fullment had come to pass. Enter the New Law which doesn’t end the older moral code but helps mankind evolve closer to God. Don’t be to harsh on St. Peter, St. Paul for what Jesus had given these first Apostles was the power to Bind or Unbind the traditions of man like the diatary and ritual laws that the Pharasees used to burden the common man. In fact, in the 2,000 plus years since Christ his Church has raised the moral standards for all men, no longer do we have an eye for an eye, slavery (in the West), and the inequality of women to name a few spiritual improvements.

Ouch… I almost always write my posts in MS Word. Then I cut/paste them here … i’ve too have lost way to much hard work when the posting did not work. So this way I do not loose the work.

Were your posts too long by chance? The reply will not post if its too long. It just gives a brief message at the top of the post … the warning message can be easy to miss.

You could see for yourself that it is essential for a Muslim to be a law abiding citizen of the state where he lives in, only then he could be a true Muslim.

But, you didn’t really answer my question. Do muslims want to live under sharia law? Is that their strife? Do they want non-muslims to live under sharia law?
