Well, some interesting revelations have come to pass over the last couple of days. There are 30 days to the wedding at this point. Maybe after the wedding I will include shameless pics but right now I am keeping the dress under the wraps. My fiance has decided that his parents do not need to be at the ceremony. He also emailed his daughter the reading she said she would do but we have a backup in case his parents do not allow her to go. I was speaking to his cousin last night and she asked me when a good time to get a hold of my df was. She then proceeded to tell me that several of the family members such as my MIL’s stepmom have already proceeded to buy gifts IN CASE they are invited. They are happy for our union. They are proud of both of us for standing up for us and for what we felt was right. They want to be there. I had always been told that his parents were the “black sheep” so to speak but I guess sometimes we always think things are not as bad as we hear. I guess they are. My df explained to his cousin that he didn’t have the addresses to send the invitations to or any way to contact much of the family and his mother has been witholding them. His cousin, who is also one of my bridesmaids, is going to be sending all of the information that she has in order to start calling some of his relatives and apologizing for the late invitation. I am very happy and feel that it is a gift from God that he will have some of his family there.
As much as I would like to see things get better between him and his parents I know the reality of that is not good. Even the counselor the Church sent us too said that that was an “unrealistic” goal.
I can see in the situation times where I have spoken and should not have but my fiance and I have done a lot of talking about why that occurred and how it can be avoided in the future. At this point he knows he will probably need to seperate from his daughter for a while after the wedding. She will need to make her own decisions as she gets older and we are pretty sure she will. Thanks all for your support and honesty. :grouphug:
