Join the club!! I too, have in-law trouble. But the difference with me is that my husband stands by me 110%. We have tried talking with his parents over and over and over and over again - and gotten NO WHERE!! If you read some of my previous threads, you’ll see some of the things they have done. We had to cut off contact with his parents because it has started to affect our oldest child. His parents don’t even care. They have not seen our children in almost 1 year and would rather be pitied than try to have a relationship with their son, much less their grandchildren  . I really have no advice for you…just wanted to let you know that you are definitely not alone. I would love to have a loving relationship with these people, but it is what it is and I pray it changes one day. Miracles have happened. PM me anytime if you need to vent or talk. 👍

I know you do not want to hear this but when you married your wife you got another set of parents. You are obligated to honor them. Make a list of what honor means to you and memorize it. You might have to turn the other cheek, but you do not have to lay down like a rug and have anyone walk on you. Love is the answer, don’t make it the question.
I’ve always found this one difficult. How far do you take the “honouring” bit? My father is a pedophile and a generally dirty-old-man. Is it sinful for me to want to protect my wife and my 8-yr old daughter from him? I don’t think so. Should this couple “honour” a MIL who is so totally selfish and shows so little respect for them as a married couple and as a family unit? Does “honouring” mean flinging open your door and your family-life and letting them trample where they please? Why would God have said that a man should leave the house of his father and mother if He actually meant “as long as it’s OK with them…otherwise let 'em move in and run your lives for you”? Yes, certainly you should be kind to them, and give them honour and respect where it’s due…but not at the expense of your marriage and your family.
