I think it would be interesting to discuss reasons why Yeshua ben Yousuf in fact IS El Messhiac. (as in, conduct a conversation from a Jewish point-of-view as to why Christ is the Messiah. This isn’t pointless, I’m trying to see how Christ and Catholicism in general fits into the Jewish faith, or came from it rather.)

A Jew might want to know or discuss…
-What exact prophesies did he fulfill that were required of The Messiah?
-What Torah prefigures of Jesus were made (i.e. symbols, characters, references…anything outside of direct Prophecy where God revealed an aspect of Himself that was found in Jesus)
-What does the New Testament say in regards to Jesus as relating to the Covenants?
-How did the early Jews following The Messiah deal with Gentiles and how did they decide/know that Gentiles were part of the New Covenant
-Why was it decided that Gentiles did not have to follow the same practices as the Jews (dietary, prayer traditions, dress as mandated by Leviticus)
-(hypothetical) What would the building of a possible 3rd Temple in Jerusalem mean for Catholicism? We are part of the Living Temple so how would that conflict with our faith? Would God never allow it?
-Why was the Sanhedrin so adamant on plotting against Christ if He was The Messiah?

And lastly (but probably carrying less weight:thumbsup: )
  • Why is everyone I talk to surprised when I, as a Catholic, say
that A) I support the Jewish religion, and B) That our religion is a continuation of Judaism to some extent (…a rather big one actually!)
Hope this makes for some interesting discussion…
