The article reads:
“(We’re) praying that it quiets down, that there’s peace. It’s important that it (peace) returns to this country,” Salvador said.
“We’re praying for a miracle,” his wife added.
I am not a Mexican but I use to visit the country regularly, it was charming, I went to the National Cathedral and to where the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe is as well. The Spaniards instilled a real tradition there. And of course, there are many other religious artifacts throughout the country, a Catholic Nation is suffering.
I’m deeply dismayed that the Country is going through so much turmoil and seems in the grip of violence. The violence there is cruel to a degree that is difficult to fathom. Also, I don’t see why the Federal Army and the Government can not do more to smack the organized crime, the Cartels down. At least, for example, burning the fields where opium grows.
And sadly, from drug use to the gun trade, we North Americans in the USA bear some responsibility too.
I do believe there are areas that are relatively unscathed with the epidemic of violence that is now there, Puebla for example but Mexico City is quite a lovely City even with the smog, the drug war is not in Mexico City to a high degree but in the other areas more.
