ummmm…that was the everyday cloth in the Middle Ages.
Nowadays…it is cumbersome and, in the Philipines…HOOOOOT.
There in the Philipines priest should adapt and use what indonesiaasn call “batik”

I don’t know about the Phillipines but it’s hot in Texas too. Several priests have told me, however, that a cassock is actully much more comfortable in the heat than a clerical suit.

Maybe we should get a dispensation like they do in South Africa and allow the priests and prelates to wear the white cassock. That might be good down here in Texas.

For whatever it’s worth, my parochial vicar wears his casssock quite often, even in the sweltering heat.

Actually, that depends. In the hottest part of the Sahara, the bedouins wear thick black robes because they actually stay cooler inside than white ones.

It’s a physics phenomenon known as “black body radiation”

Although I’m pretty sure that cassocks are too thin and therefore have a high level of transmission anyway…
