A beast is a nation and a woman is a church. We know this…correct?

Revelation 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

Revelation 17:7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.

So based off of these two scriptures, a woman (church) was carried on a beast (nation). Do you agree that John shown a church and state nation? If not, please share your understanding.

How about this…

Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Based on the bold part, was John shown a church and state nation that was (before the vision), not at the moment of the vision, and would be in the future (near Christ’s return)?

So this beast in Revelation, will it be a church and state nation?

Please give feedback.

Lapey;
Nope! The woman, the harlot, is the Roman Empire, who at the time persecuted the Christians or “holy ones”. The seven heads are representative of the seven hills in which she, Rome, sits; and also seven kings 5 already fallen, one still lives and one to come. Including Nero(n) Caesar, who by the way is the one marked with the number of the beast, “666”. (Care to see where I get this from?)

If you would not only look for scripture “pieces” to back up your assertions, you could see the truth. Look at 13:6, “I saw that the woman was drunk on the blood of the holy ones and on the blood of the witnesses to Jesus.

You have to read this in context! This was written at the end of the 1st or beginning of the 2nd century, when the early Christians were being persecuted by the ROMAN EMPIRE in Asia Minor. The time and place setting is important to be able to see what John was saying.

Place 4, 5 and especially 6 here!!!

Woman = Roman Empire, was carried on the beast with seven heads = seven vicious Kings, also seven hills in which the harlot, Rome was located.

PS. This is not my understanding, it is the meaning of the text.

No this is not a vision of a church, why would it? Where is the evidence to show it is an illusion to a church? Much less the Roman Catholic Church and Hagee and other nut jobs believe and preach.
This is an illusion to the belief that Nero would return from the dead to persecute once again. He was the most feared Roman leader of this period, from what I have read.
Verse 14 reads, they will fight with the Lamb, and the will win. I do believe the Roman Empire fell, don’t you?

By what authority do you claim to properly Interpret the most symbollic & Non-Literal books of the Bible? We have approximately 2000 years of History & research & reflection. what to you have? Private Revelation? your Pastor’s say so?
If so what is his Authority?

Your presumptuous posts here & elsewhere border on the absurd. You think you have the knowledge of History & scripture to teach us? Go back to your Christian 101 class & spend a few years educating yourself on Catholicism before coming in here & wasting our time. The Catechism is readily available as are many other tracts. they are shorter & more bite sized morsels that perhaps your mind can grasp.

How on earth do you get that the woman is a church, from that???

Before we get too far into this, The Catholic Church, in “Rome,” sits on an eigth hill!!!

Unless you are willing to say that the Bible is wrong, The Catholic Church cannot be the harlot

Wow…

I’m sorry that you feel this way. You are welcome to share with me YOUR understanding of those scriptures.

I didn’t realize that you HAVE to go to “class” to understand the Bible. If that were so, then what kind of God do we follow? That’s not the God I serve. Why would God give us something to live by and we can’t or do not have the “authority” to understand/interpret it? That sounds more like satan to me.

I do not simply take what someone gives me without researching it for myself (studying the Word of God) My pastor encourages those things because people WILL give you the wrong interpretation. (Bible studies with each other and alone)

I give scripture in hopes that someone go and research for themselves. I do not give scripture and expect someone to take it as full truth without studying on their own.

Like I said, you are welcome to give me your understanding of. If not, why post?

You do not have to question my authority, my pastor’s authority, or my history. I have the Word of God in which I study and the Holy Spirit whom gives me understanding. Is that not good enough?
