PRESS CONFERENCE OF POPE FRANCIS IN RETURN FLIGHT FROM BRAZIL (Translation by Google Translate)

Sunday, July 28, 2013

Patricia Zorzan:

Speaking on behalf of the Brazilians. Society has changed, young people have changed and you see so many young people in Brazil. She did not mention abortion, marriage between persons of the same sex. In Brazil, a law was passed that extends the right to abortion and allowed marriage between persons of the same sex. Why did not talk about this?

Papa Francesco:

The Church has already expressed this perfectly. It was not necessary to go back, as I have not even talked about the fraud, deceit or other things which the Church has a clear doctrine!

Here’s a Google Translate variation with a couple of minor grammar improvements to the reporter’s question:

If im not mistaken, this law was signed by president Dilma Rousseff after He left, right?

I think Papa is saying he is not gonna thump people over the head with our doctrines. He knows and believes them to be grounded in the gospel. This is Papa’s perrogative…a living gospel message. Dilma has no care for what pertains to God. Are people blessed to have her walk into their homes? Are they thirsty for her words?

Deos Abencoe o Brasil,
Michael

This transcript is proof that the media was being deliberately deceptive. I think two basic rules to live by are this: The first rule is we should always trust that the Holy Spirit will prevent the Pope from doctrinal error when teaching according to the Church’s norms for Papal Infallibility. The second rule is we should never trust the media.

Please explain…
The Pope said that the Church’s teachings on homosexuality and abortion are perfect (i.e. he has no intention of changing those teachings). The media obviously ignored that part of what the Pope said in favor of trying to promote their agenda.

“The problem is not having this tendency [SSA], no, we must be brothers, because this is one, but if there’s another, another. The problem is to lobby for this…” - Pope Francis, Press Conference in Return Flight from Brazil (Google Translate, “SSA” added by me)

I interpret this as him saying that SSA by itself isn’t a sin as long as homosexuality isn’t lobbied (actively promoted). This is essentially no different than what it teaches about homosexuals in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

Possibly…
But from your small snippit, its not proof. I would like to see the english translation of the interview. I think its the one in french on the vatican website, right?

I thought the part you posted seemed more like an attempt to make the Pope feel like he didnt address real issues…and a society that is largely moving away from Catholic doctrine. He was not baited into the broken record answers. Instead, he confirms the answers to those tendancies have been made without the need to thump heads, but to protest against the one faith is division.

Just my thoughts

I don’t see how I had in anyway criticized the Pope. My criticism was directed solely at the media. To see the entire transcript in English, all one has to do is copy and paste it into Google Translate.

Here’s the link to the official transcript:

And here’s a link to Google Translate:

Everybody dance now!!!
rorate-caeli.blogspot.com/2013/07/bishops-dance-to-new-tune.html

Sorry it’s kind of hard to blame secular media for thinking; “maybe the Church would be open to changing their stance on things like abortion and homosexuality” when you see it’s Bishops doing things like that.

The best is when some of them dance before Mass, in their vestments.
First of all,…I didn’t personally see the media being anything other than itself. In other words, I was not offended or blaming them for anything.

Also,…The Church does not accept sinfull behavior because individuals in ANY Church possition has fallen into this behavior. We do not follow the behavior of a christian just because he is in a high office. We do, however, accept the teachings of the collective body of bishops in the Catholic Church as the authority of Jesus.
Jesus has thus spoken through His Church on these matters. They cannot be overturned! It is not a possibility! It would be a kingdom divided against itself and fall. Just like the rest of the world does, and is falling.

Good thing since Christians would have been doomed right after Judas, Peter, and the other 9 leaving Christ during His Passion. Kind of makes one wonder if Calvary wasn’t a sign of how things would play out during extremely horrible times, were it might be common to only find a Bishop standing next to Christ on the Cross and His Mother, and one penitent. .

I believe some clarification is in order of what it means to that “Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided” (see the CCC). I think this is what Pope Francis has done in stating that gay clergy ought to not be marginalized; it’s marginalizing them that is an unjust discrimination. .
