Have you ever gone on long periods asking God for valid things, like certain virtues or health, even for others, only to see situations worsen? Is the God who said: “Ask and it will be given to you” foreign to you? Is the God who said: “when you come to serve the Lord, prepare yourself for trials” all too intimate with you? That’s my experience for some time now. For years. Things grow unexpectedly heavy beyond my ability to see and my head sometimes is a swirl of confusion. My prayers are seemingly answered in the exact opposite of the petition. Thorns I have begged to be removed are driven in deeper. I just got done reading Padre Pio’s letters to his spiritual director as he grieved time and again under the weight of his crosses. He even cried “cruel” at one point in his humanity only to submit a moment later. If you can empathize with such a situation, please pray for me and all those of His children crying out in darkness, being pruned and humbled, for the mercy of the Lord to offer a drop of relief.

God bless all those who pray with fortitude, courage, and joy. Mary, pray with us. :signofcross:

Praying for you, MarcoPolo…

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Someone once told me that when Jesus loves you very much that he holds you so close to Him that you can feel the crown of thorns. He must love you very much!! I will keep you in my prayers!!

I’m praying for you right now. Remember, when you think things are really bad…THANK GOD!!! You still have your mind to think with. Thank God for all things.

Praying for you, and that your suffering may produce abundant fruits.

Yes, I do know how you feel. I will add you to my prayer list. See my signature…offer it up. And remember, even if we don’t know what the reason for suffering truly is, or prayers seemingly unanswered, God knows. He uses all for good.

Absolutely I have experienced that–probably many posters have, as well. I read somewhere (and this helped me sooooo much) that the trials themselves, might be God’s way of helping you. That the trial builds strength, and character…and once you come through the ‘worst’ of it all, you emerge holier. God’s main desire for us is to get us to heaven. He of course wants us to be happy on earth, to prosper, to not suffer…but if He feels that we need to go through suffering to grow…to emerge better. To help others. To increase in holiness, if that is what it takes…then, He allows the situation to unfold. It took me years to grasp that–and when I go through trials still, it escapes my memory.😊 But, I offer this to you, because it helped me. You’re in my prayers…hang on to Jesus. He will see you through.

Marco Polo,
I will keep you in my prayers.

It goes without saying, thank you all who prayed in a post (or without making a post) for me and all those who suffer.

Sorry about that …I copied your quotes and then posted it without a reply.

A priest once described a similar dilemna that I was experiencing as a time of grace. Through hindsight, I now realize that it was.

I will remember you in the Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3:00 tomorrow.

God Bless You!

Paul

I too have been in ‘that thorny boat’ at times. All I can say is to keep praying and to remember that ‘this too shall pass’ just like the good times do.
