Greetings,

I’m trying to research into whether there has ever been a Saint Flannery. I wondering if someone here would know? I’d appreciate your help and thanks ahead of time!

Godspeed!

A Google search results in nothing except Flannery O’Connor. As far as I can tell, there has never been a Saint Flannery.

Indeed, I have made those searches but, given the multitude of saints, I’m hoping someone can come up with some esoteric source that I haven’t found yet.

That said, I’d be for canonizing O’Connor…her stories are sublime!

Thanks again.

I know next to nothing about Irish Gaelic, but if you haven’t already done, have a look here. It might be helpful.

kingfisher,

If you enjoy Flannery O’Connor, don’t miss her collection of letters entitled “The Habit of Being.” It’s as rewarding as her fiction. She was an admirable woman. I don’t know that she was exactly a saint, though. With all due respect, her character traits that fell short of sainthood are what made her as a writer 🙂

Yes-thank you. I actually just purchased this book and am about to dive in! And, not to forget, she’s had plenty of time [and plenty of suffering on earth] to have worked all that out in Purgatory! 😃

Agreed! Let us know what you think about the letters. I would have considered myself fortunate to be her friend 🙂

I love Flannery O’Connor but I have to admit I can only take one of her stories a year at a time. Her story are so powerful.

I noticed on Amazon that there is a new “spiritual biography” of Flannery O’Connor that was recently published in September. It seems interesting. Has anyone read it yet?
