I remember as a kid in the seventies: catalogues from Eaton’s, Simpson-Sears, and Consumers Distributing.

Three guesses as to which country I grew up in. 😃

An era has passed, by the way: Apparently Canadian Tire money is no longer being produced. :eek: :crying:

Besides the S&H Green Stamps, there was the Blue Chip Stamps. I remember many years ago, local car dealer Cal Worthington’s tv commercial. He said he would give people a bunch of Blue Chip Stamps if they stopped by his dealership to give him first chance of a deal.
 
I actually still have some Blue Chip stamps and some S&H Green stamps.

My sisters and I used to cut out the ladies and girls from the old Sears catalog and make paper dolls out of them. 🙂

I don’t think little girls even play with paper dolls anymore. They don’t know what they are missing. My sister and I used to coax my brother to play the Dad but only if we promised to play Cops and robbers with him afterwards. God Bless, Memaw

My husband was a Green stamp and a Gold Bond stamp hoarder. he would be waiting for me at the door to get the stamps. He had books and books of them saved. And one winter, he got laid off and we had very little money and those books were our sons best Christmas. I still have some books of them. God Bless, Memaw
 
We purchased our house about 7 years ago. The former owner left behind a JC Penney catalog. It was about 3 inches thick and had so many different things that not all stores carried, clothing, furniture, shoes, housewares. I think even wedding gowns if I remember correctly.

Now JCPenney is so sad (at least my local one) lots of empty spaces, clothing that I wouldn’t buy. 😦

I remember Montgomery Wards and the catalogs from both there and from Sears. My siblings and I also looked through the catalog to make a wish list for Christmas. Sears was the place my parents went to for appliances and tools, not clothes.
I remember the S & H green stamps and the gold stamps too. Gas stations used to give them out as well as grocery stores.
 
My Mom used to let my sister and I paste the Green stamps in the booklets. That was fun! 😛

She used to get some nice things with Green Stamps. If I recall correctly, I think that she got some small kitchen appliances with Green Stamps. I also remember her getting a really nice little book case with Green Stamps too, that she used to keep in our kitchen at home, where she kept her cookbooks in it.
 
IMO it seems like Amazon is so similar to these old ways it’s kinda freaky.
 
Nice styles…modest but not dowdy, either.

By the late 60’s, the catlog was featuring more than just white models, which is good.
