The examples I used were not about the thread in general, but on your opinion that we should trust the priests in all things, even if in error. I disagree with that assessment.
This thread has been about people deciding that they know better and they have all the facts.
With the number of liturgical abuses that happen in our country, I often do trust the laity more than the priests. It’s a sad state of affairs, and I pray that our new Holy Father will continue Pope Benedict’s reform of the liturgy and put an end to these abuses.
It’s about people deciding that both species should not be offered.
There was a reason the Council of Trent abolished the distribution of both species to the faithful, but even so, I do concede that the Holy See has made the allowance for this.
It’s about timing communion times and concentrating at communion time on things other then out precious Lord.
The posts I have seen regarding Communion times have been to demonstrate that in many parishes, the Communion times are so short that there is not a need for EMHCs. I don’t think these people are focusing “on things other than our precious Lord” as you seem to think.
Why can we not treat our clergy with respect and not complain to him that he is doing it wrong on things that are within his purview?
Clergy should be treated with respect, no doubt, and I haven’t seen a single poster suggest otherwise. However, fraternal correction in areas where abuses can be avoided is not disrepectful, but rather a necessity. I have not seen anyone argue that there is never a need for EMHCs, only that the use of EMHCs has been abused.
We should submit to his authority and not try to change things to fit us when the Church has already spoken.
Yes, the Church has spoken, and it has clearly stated that EMHCs are to be used in “extraordinary” circumstances. However, as many have already said, this has not been the case. Why shouldn’t I just trust the priest’s decision? Because if I can plainly see the need for EMHCs is not there, then it’s not unreasonable of me to question why he is using them.
