In what direction should I genuflect?

I like to genuflect as I enter for Mass, out of reverence for God. In what direction should I genuflect if:

1. There is no tabernacle (Newman Center);
2. There is a tabernacle but it’s off to the side and not really within good sight from where I enter (home parish).

1. There is no tabernacle (Newman Center)

When the Blessed Sacrament is not on the altar and is not reserved in a tabernacle in the church, make a profound bow (i.e., from the waist) in the direction of the altar.

2. There is a tabernacle but it’s off to the side and not really within good sight from where I enter (home parish).

In this case you can either make a profound bow in the direction of the altar or genuflect in the general direction of the tabernacle.
