Just something I was wondering…I assume in Europe, but which country exactly? I feel like I’ve read it’s in France or Spain, or possibly Italy, but I’m not sure. Thanks for your time!
I just looked it up and found out indeed there is a French Switzerland. Also German, Italian, and Romansh Switzerlands. Intriguing.I dont know but I’d guess France, French Switzerland or the USA
Switzerland has language influence from the bordering countries: Italian (4%), French (21%), German (74%), and their unique language is Romanish spoken by about 1% of the people. What is “Romansh Switzerland”?
…
I’m just going with the languages. As I said, that was the first I’ve heard of it.What is “Romansh Switzerland”?
And the official Swiss name for Switzerland is not in any of the four languages. Confoederatio Helvetica (Helvetian Confederation) is Latin.I just looked it up and found out indeed there is a French Switzerland. Also German, Italian, and Romansh Switzerlands. Intriguing.
Yes, it’s definitely in what is called la Suisse-Romande (French-speaking). If I remember correctly, it’s in Geneva Canton.I’Would Econe be in French Switzerland? I couldn’t find it on the map.
Yes and no. It’s a variant of Latin in its own right. As is Occitan, as is Provençal, as is Catalan, etc. Thanks for the lesson, Pro. Interesting. I wonder if the Romanish language is kind of like the French Langue d’Oc? A latinized native/ancient language?
Considering how much bigger the USA is compared to the other nations listed, I can’t imagine we have more availability in terms of the mileage involved in getting to these Masses. It is about a year old
