In your opinion, what is the worst crime?

The types of murder and massacre being committed by ISIL have to be the very worst. Someone can be convicted of first degree murder and have been motivated by the passions… anger, greed, lust etc… however those crimes committed by calculated and passionless psychopaths and those who’ve divested themselves of the basics of humanity… are the ones who warrant life with possibility of parole (domestic criminals) and execution (international terrorists like the Bin Ladens and ISIL’s)

I believe that is only the case when/ if the war they were fighting in was NOT a just war, if it was a just war, I dont think they are help liable for any killing. I know this is a huge debate on here though,with alot of people having different opinions.

because it is a source for so many wrongs.
catechesis? empathy ? correction? prayer? better modeling? structural changes to encourage better support or encourage better choices?
We’re getting into mother Theresa territory here and I’m not sure I’m qualified to come up with a punishment. Helping others towards repentance, penance and what restitution might be possible. Some harmful acts may necessitate containment to protect others.

I think that I still need to do a lot of thinking on this. Thanks for asking such a provocative question.🙂

Are you asking about sin as opposed to crime? If so, I would say that an over all life of sinfulness would be the worst. Tax evasion as a crime, because it cheats others for your own selfish gain.

The worst sin: explicit hatred of God, because this is the most opposed to charity that a sin can be
The worst act that should be considered criminal (considered as a crime)l: promoting Satanism, death or LWOP, because this is the most harmful to the spiritual well-being of society
The worst act that is considered criminal (considered as a crime): murder, death or LWOP when in the highest degree, a definite term or life when in lesser degrees, because this is the most harmful act to the social order which is currently illegal

Ah, thanks. I’ve never heard that acronym used in that meaning.

But I am puzzled. LWOP means protecting the innocent members of society by the incarceration of repeat violent criminals for the rest of their lives. How can that be considered a crime?
 
Murder, particularly patricide/matricide and infanticide. Crimes against your own family are always the worst because they violates everything sacred.

Death or LWOP referred to the punishment, not the crime itself.
 
Sexual abuse is the worst crime. I don’t agree that murder is the worst crime. After the initial pain of dying, there is no more pain. If you have been sexually abused, you feel pain all the time. It is horrible to have to live after sexual abuse. I know, I have been sexually abused.
