There is some scripture passages that mention that incense is sacred to the Lord and not to be done by any laymen. Has this part of the law been abolished?

That the children of Israel might have for the time to come wherewith they should be admonished, that no stranger or any one that is not of seed of Aaron should come near to offer incense to the Lord, lest he should suffer as Core suffered, and all his congregation, according as the Lord spoke to Moses. Number chapter 16 verse 40

Is it only for the clergy? I can’t find a clear answer anywhere, it seems like these passages are ignored in this area… 🙂

It says that incense is only for the temple. Can I still use it for personal prayer?

The Law in the OT no longer holds. Parts are retained, though, like the ten commandments, which are moral. Also, parts live on in traditions that have a similar spirit. You have mentioned Korah (Core) and the rebellion against Moses and Aaron. Catholics still retain the concept that there is the ministerial priesthood. Only some are priests. To pretend to be one and to go to a church and stand up in front and pretend to offer mass is a serious sacrilege. To claim that all possess holy orders would be incorrect theologically. We do all have the baptismal priesthood if you are baptized, but that is not the same.

But you are talking of nothing like that. You sound like you want to know if you can light a candle or burn a scent or whatever behavior that helps you pray or to have a small area in your home for prayer. Knock yourself out! 🙂
