From Redemptionis Sacramentum
THE REGULATION OF THE SACRED LITURGY
[14.] “The regulation of the Sacred Liturgy depends solely on the authority of the Church, which rests specifically with the Apostolic See and, according to the norms of law, with the Bishop.[34]
and
[43] Furthermore, “every lawful celebration of the Eucharist is directed by the Bishop, to whom is entrusted the office of presenting the worship of the Christian religion to the Divine Majesty and ordering it according to the precepts of the Lord and the laws of the Church, further specified by his own particular judgement for the Diocese”
and
23.] The faithful “should cling to the Bishop as the Church does to Jesus Christ, and as Jesus Christ does to the Father, so that all may be in harmonious unity, and that they may abound to the glory of God”.
and finally;
[58] and so that the effective governance of the Bishop in his diocese will be preserved. As regards all these sorts of bodies and other entities and all undertakings in liturgical matters, there has long been the need for the Bishops to consider whether their working has been fruitful thus far,[59] and to consider carefully which changes or improvements should be made in their composition and activity[60]so that they might find new vigour. It should be borne in mind that the experts are to be chosen from among those whose soundness in the Catholic faith and knowledge of theological and cultural matters are evident.
I think the Bishops interpretation of Redemptionis Sacramentum, trumps anyone in this forum.

Using God in place of He, or friends in place of Disciples, doesn’t change the Mass at all and the Bishops as show above, have the authority to allow such word substitutions, providing it doesn’t change the meaning.

I noticed that you left out the body that RS was talking about here
25.** Commissions as well as councils or committees established by the Bishop **to handle “the promotion of the Liturgy, sacred music and art in his diocese” should act in accordance with the intentions and the norms of the Bishop; they must rely on his authority and his approval so that they may carry out their office in a suitable manner58 and so that the effective governance of the Bishop in his diocese will be preserved. As regards all these sorts of bodies and other entities and all undertakings in liturgical matters, there has long been the need for the **Bishops to consider whether their working has been fruitful thus far,59 and to consider carefully which changes or improvements should be made in their composition **and activity60 so that they might find new vigor. It should be borne in mind that the experts are to be chosen from among those whose soundness in the Catholic faith and knowledge of theological and cultural matters are evident.
The ‘changes and improvements’ that para 25 are referring to are to the compostition and activities of any liturgical COMMISSIONS set up by the bishops.

I fully agree that if a bishop sets up commitee, that the bishop should regularly evaluate who is sitting on the commitee and what their scope of work is.

But nothing you quoted spoke to making changes to texts, only committee memberships.

Brendan:
And the Vatican trumps his.
And you’re not the Vatican:D

And neither is any US bishop.

They can no more issue an authentic interpretation of RS than I can.
But they are in union with the Vatican and have the authority of Bishops. Therefore, their words trump yours.

Until the Pope removes them, we are to be obedient to them.

The Pope did write and article a few months ago regarding baptism. The baptism is invalid if they use " in the name of the creator the redeemer and the sanctifer." Those baptized with this formula must be rebaptized.

But has ANYONE ever heard this method of baptizism???
Yes, I agree this is way TOO out there. But, I have never heard anyone anywhere ever say anything but “In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit”.

Most Christians, when they hear the word “creator” automatically think"Father", and “the son”, “Jesus”, maybe not all think of the Holy Spirit as the sanctifier. Don’t know.

I can see where our Holy Father felt the need to correct that.

but some “wording”, “I would think” is so obvious as to the meaning, would not need Holy Father to “interpret”. And I do feel that he trusts his bishops enough to allow them some freedom in the trivial things.

Our Holy Father’s goal/purpose is to lead the “sheep”. I do think if he feels his sheep are being led astray by “other” words, he would change that, just as he did this “creator” thing above.👍

YES!!!

I know a priest that has to contact over 2000 people to tell them their baptism is not valid

Right, they have the authority of a bishop. Since it was the CDWDS that issued this document, THEY and not the bishop, has the authority to issue an authentic interpretation under Canon 16.

So any lawful interpretation comes from the CDWDS, not from an diocesan Ordinary ( outside the Ordinary of Rome of course)
Until the Pope removes them, we are to be obedient to them.
In areas in which they have authority, yes, I do.
