just for greater clarity, ‘celibacy’ is the promise to never marry. ‘chastity’ is living according to the moral law as concerns one’s body and sexuality.
So this is my last resort and I will use it for all it’s worth.
it is worth nothing. you are just making her dislike you more.
Again, I am only asking her to obey God’s law for the sake of her own soul.
this is what we’ve (or at least i’ve) been trying to say: your statements are transparently, self-serving. you are the main benefactor of what you are doing. if her soul happens to benefit from all of this, that is a mere accident. you say that you have been humbled, etc. but your very actions and attitude concerning this canon law scheme testify against you.

take a breather. rethink all of this. if there is hope, you will find a righteous fulfillment of that hope. this plan you currently have is undignified.

God’s peace to you,

john

Catholic2003:
Bishop Salvatore Cordileone, who is a doctor of canon law, will next be appearing on the “Ask a Canon Lawyer” feature of the Catholic Answers Live radio program on April 15, in case you would like to ask him. (It’s a call-in program where listeners can ask whatever canon law question they want.)
It looks like the date is now April 14.
