Incorrupt bodies of saints (pictures)

I had no idea there were so many!!!

I have to wonder though - how did they know that the body would be incorrupt? Didn’t they bury them after death assuming they would decay as any normal body? How would they know? The whole thing is very puzzling to me.

Also - does anyone know of any non-Catholic examples of incorrupt bodies? Or is this totally exclusive to Catholics?

Your post and a nice long walk got me to thinking. (Maybe I should take more walks, huh. ) I believe others have had incorruptibility. Back in their day, it is a wonder that when dug up they weren’t considered vampires. From what I have read and seen on special programs on TV, those who were found in the same state had stakes driven threw their heart, garlic in their mouth, burnt, etc. Maybe in the Saints case, not, because they were religious, were Priest, monks, Sisters. Just a thought but it makes the others considered vamps darn unlucky. Just a saying…

I don’t know about incorrupted saints but I remember, as a teenager, going to York. There was (still is perhaps?) a convent there and in a display they had the hand of a nun who was crushed to death by reformers and kept the faith until the very end. As a teenager, I though that was very awesome

It really is totally amazing.

We will be going to England in a few weeks - are there any incorrupt saints there that anyone knows of? I just don’t have the time to research it, my apologies.
