Agreed.

Freckles are cute!

I don’t get it when people don’t like certain colours of their skin. There are so many beautiful people of different colours. I’m not white (i have “caramel” skin, i guess) I may be insecure, but the colour of my skin is the last thing I am ashamed about!
People will envy your caramel skin. They spend money on tanning salons to get your color skin.

I’m not white either so I get teased a lot for my freckles because according the others only white folk have freckles.

Indeed. Compared to the Europeans around me, I eternally look like I just came home from a vacation in the tropics. My physical therapist (who is white as a sheet) has expressed admiration for my medium olive skin, and she’s not the only one.

I was in the hospital a couple of months ago, and my skin tone prevented me from looking like I was in the hospital. (I guess many people turn pale when they’re hospitalized, depending upon the reason for the hospital stay of course.) My priest came to see me and was so surprised by my apparently healthy glow that he blurted out, “Wow, you look good” 😃

Who in the world says that? All the women in my family have freckles to some extent or another. We’re Asian.

I’m beginning to get really annoyed at ‘needing’ to dress well + put on makeup in order to go to school or church. I know it’s not a sin, and grooming is fine.

But it is annoying because I want to be like the other girls in my class/etc that maybe put on a lipstick and leave. Even when I wear casual clothes, it has to be “cute casual”.

It’s annoying because I cannot just stop. I don’t have the luxury to not care, if it makes sense. (I’ve said this before many times here, that like it or not, physical beauty is important, even to good men. And I look like a nightmare even after dressing up nicely+makeup, so you can only imagine what I look like without it)

It’s annoying that I find myself annoying-i wish I am not whining to a bunch of strangers online CONSTANTLY.

I felt this way since I was 5 or 6 I believe. And it sucks. I’m not depressed or anything. My mental health is fine. It’s just that I cannot seem to ignore/forget about the cold hard truths.

I know God doesn’t care about this, but it still doesn’t change everything.

I guess my question is:

Why do you think God make some people ugly and some people gorgeous? Physically, not inner beauty. (Don’t give me the “everyone is beautiful/god thinks we are all beautiful” nonsense, that stuff was made up by attractive people to comfort us uglies :p)
I tend to dress fairly decent on a daily basis. Just a preference, so I always wear my Sunday best. As for wearing makeup, I guess that’s a judgment call for you. My preference is that women look better without it. I became kind of horrified when my ex girlfriend who absolutely opposed wearing makeup started wearing makeup, but this is just one person’s opinion.

Dressing “well” is subjective to an extent. Like you, I prefer a more polished look than many people would opt for on a daily basis. I get people telling me, “Well look at you, all dressed up—what’s the occasion?” and I’m like, “Huh? I always dress like this.” But in general no one should feel they HAVE to dress a certain way in order to put forth an image to others that we think they expect.* People should let their appearance project who they are, not who they believe others want them to be. If other people don’t like it, that’s their problem.

Makeup as part of a woman’s personal is a choice. If a woman doesn’t want to wear makeup, she shouldn’t feel pressured to do so. The reverse is also true.

*There are, of course, exceptions to this, such as a mandatory work uniform or occupational dress code. But I imagine we’re not talking about things like that.

Well the old expression “dress for success”

I might note that I know ALOT of people including myself who get dressed to get functional. It is a mind effect.

It is interesting to note that before the welfare mentality people dressed for success and people worked, and did stuff.

Now people look like slobs and we post their pictures on peopleofwalmart.com and such…

I believe in many cases lazy breeds lazy. Lazy worker, lazy dresser, lazy home keeping, lazy eater, lazy fitness

And we get obese, unemployed, unhealthy, pajama wearing people hanging out in their messy house. 😦

Ah, welcome to our current society

I guess people have such a narrow definition of how Asians are supposed to look like and the stereotype that comes to mind is Chinese with stick straight black hair and monolids. I have met a lot of Chinese with freckles, auburn hair and hazel eyes and according to them they are pure Chinese. Yes, I mean a lot.

When I lived in a more diverse area I was actually quite good at telling asian’s origins apart. Perceptive look can reveal there is quite a variance amoung all generic demographic descriptions. It actually really only gets difficult for people from border areas or overly americanized.

And this is from a white american 😉

Some women are so beautiful that makeup makes them less beautiful (I’m forever jealous of them). But most women IMO look better with makeup. The application and the amount varies of course.

I know a lot of guys say this but I always find out that they cannot differentiate natural makeup and no makeup. I don’t know about you of course!

Makeup is such a lifesaver (think concealer to cover up zits and dark eye circles, blush to liven up pale skin, etc)

I enjoy applying makeup, I just don’t like the reason why I wear it, I suppose

Great!

Given the previous, why not get out of your head a bit and worry about thr “I enjoy it” part. And do what you enjoy and not worry about shenanigans 🙂
I’m trying to do that, you see, but every time I reflect on it, it’s just depressing. Like I enjoy it because I look somewhat better which then leads to me thinking “oh no, nobody can see my real face”. I honestly thought it was normal until all of my friends said they liked makeup as a form of self expression. I’m that girl feminists hate basically, a girl who is desperate for some sort of approval when it comes to looks I guess.

I guess like what one of y’all said, I don’t want to feel like I HAVE to do something. And I’m annoyed bc of it

So stop reflecting on it. You seem to be overthinking the matter. Wear the makeup, or don’t. Either way, be at peace. 🙂

The problem is that you should not listen to agendas

Feminism included.

People lie, people lie to you.

AND ABSOLUTELY NUMBER ONE CARDINAL RULE OF HUMANS???

PEOPLE…THEY… LIE… THE…BEST…TO…

THEMSELVES.

I mentioned dressing for success and self motivation.
I do like it for me.
But if I was capable of claiming I did not also have motives involving external perception… I would be as skilled at denial as the rest of my horrible species 😦

Denial can work kinda… your problem is you are not that warped perhaps… most “ugly” people think they are far better than reality.

Please note your issue is you can’t cope with reality while also not being skillled at denial. Ergo you simply need to learn to cope with life on its terms…

God’s love is a great thing in that, but also just being realistic and calm…

Shoot I am not dating super model actresses, I am not Bill Gate’s heir, I am not the strongest and fastest and smartest. I am what I am. Embrace it, roll with it. No denial, no sad face. Just be.

Yes. I agree. I wear makep, go to the gym and so on because it’s fun and it helps me to be my best. There is nothing wrong with that.

Op you have to stop comparing yourself to others and enjoy the beauty of being you. This is what i tell my dd’s.
And sometimes they remind me too when I get too perfectionistic.

mommy k, I’m not sure advice to “enjoy the beauty of being you” would help Lea. She’s stated in the past that she is “objectively” ugly. She has even referred to herself as “deformed”.

So that is where she is coming from, that she envies women who has the choice to wear makeup or not. She seems to think she has no choice, that if she doesn’t wear makeup, she will be sure to disgust and offend anyone who looks upon her.

It might also help to know she is 18, last I checked.

Enjoying the beauty of being you sometimes does not pertain to physical appearance. Some of the most beautiful Saints are examples of that, because the beauty of their souls shines through the surface.

👍

I have had the good fortune to know men and women who are not much to look at physically but they managed to attract loads of admirers because the beauty of their souls just shone through. They were like saints on earth. This type is rare but it is indeed possible.

I do agree with this. I just happen to not have any of those qualities they have (like usually they are warm, friendly, open, while I can’t even make eye contact with people lol) I’m trying though

A supermodel with a bad personality isn’t going to get far beyond a quick “use”…

You sort of just answered your own question of what you should be more concerned with than looks. I imagine many the women you think have it made physically based on typical statistics are getting plenty of “use” and little marriage prospects
