'A priest has been given an indefinite period of time to consider his position after it was revealed that he and a former friar had been lovers.
The sensational revelation came to light during a court dispute over ownership of a Donegal house, and the priest in question – Father Gabriel Rosbotham – is now taking time out to consider his future.
Martin Long, spokesman for the Catholic Church in Ireland, said that the first thing the bishop of Killala (the diocese where Fr Rosbotham is based) had known of the relationship was when he was drinking a cup of tea and watching television, and a news report of the court case came on screen.’
