Independent Fundamentalist Baptists

Hey everyone. If someone who is an Independent Fundamentalist Baptist knows just barely enough to critique Catholicism (although falsely) would they know enough to be accountable for their knowledge of Catholicism and for not having converted if they die?

We have a lot of Protestant Christian bretheren who are so busy making a serious effort to reach out to others and apply the message of the Gospels that they have little time left for serious intellectual study of doctrinal differences.

When the Final Judgment comes to pass, they’re going to be a lot closer to the head of the line at the Pearly Gates than those of us who are too busy studying to spend much time fostering kids, building homes for the poor, or serving meals in soup kitchens.

We would do well to emulate their actions.

(Call me out for an annoying answer but)

It seems that your question would be impossible to answer (from a human stand point) since you are asking about the culpability of this person based upon their internal understanding of something. If someone knew that person extremely well they could make an educated assumption on the matter, but to the best of my knowledge there is no humanly possible measurement of culpability in this situation.

God knows their heart and their mind. Pray that they can see the truth and that their attacks are merely based upon misunderstanding and not a defiance of the revealed truth. Pray and hope in the Lord.

Once having been IFB myself, I had no clue. But disatisfaction with what I was taught and told brought me back.

Reading between the lines here … are you suggesting that an IFB is damned?

Ain’t damned, amigo. Maybe he’ll get a lesser “reward” for not paying attention, but we’re not in a position to speculate.
