Independent investigation into Church of England murder determines that the Anglican church's views on sexuality are the problem

This was such a load of nonsense, I had to post it somewhere.

It seems an independent safeguarding consultant, named Adi Cooper, was tasked with looking into the murder of a man by an Anglican church warden, and concluded that the Anglican church’s ‘too conservative rules on sexuality’ and homophobia (seriously? In the C of E?) were ultimately to blame for the death of the victim (who was gay).

Adi Cooper’s report, published by the diocese of Oxford on Friday, found that the “policies of the Church of England regarding homosexual practice and approach to sexuality and relationships put Peter Farquhar at risk and vulnerable to exploitation”

“A culture which supported openness and transparency would have better safeguarded Peter Farquhar. While people continue to feel forced to hide or lie about their sexuality, they can become vulnerable to exploitation, as was Peter Farquhar.”

“Negative attitudes towards homosexuality and homosexual practice in the Church of England reinforce internalised homophobia. There is an issue here for the wider church to consider how it offers support to its lesbian and gay members, not to ‘cure’ and ‘heal’ them as this would be a deeply homophobic response.”

The C of E’s insistence that sex is for married heterosexual couples only “may lead people to lie about the reality of their sexual lives” and “exposes people to risk”, the report says. “The church should consider how to make it possible for people to be honest about their relationships, as well as being a safe place for lesbians and gay men.”

I think the C of E need to appoint better independent investigators because this Cooper woman seems to be an activist railing against Anglican church teachings, rather than actually looking to find safeguarding issues within the church.

I know certain activists try to blame tragedies and scandals in the Catholic Church on the Church’s ‘out of date’ teaching on homosexuality and sexuality in general, so this isn’t a surprise I suppose, but with the Catholic Church it’s normally the media who does it, while the C of E really shot themselves in the foot here by hiring somebody to investigate, who then went and basically called them homophobic.
