I don’t get it. How dose it say porn is adultery? I mean, I know what porn is, but, how dose that billboard say it?

I think a better message would be this:

“Porn is the leading cause of failing marriages.
But it isn’t easy to quit an addiction, is it?
You need help. Divine help. Pray to the Lord.”

Make sense to me. Using porn and masturbation is very much like cheating on your spouse. Often, when a spouse finds out about the addiction their response is very much like that of being cheated on.

Further more. People that commit adultry are more likely to view pornography. They are very related.

Like cheating on a spouse? I’m not too sure about that one. I think that most people would rather their spouse view porn rather than commit adultery. There is a huge difference.

People that commit adultery are more likely to view pornography…I’d like to see some research on that one.

Don’t mean to defend porn. I don’t own any, and I’m 29 years old. Yeah, I viewed it in the past. Haven’t since I was about 22 or such.

*From a woman’s perspective, if my husband was viewing this, I wouldn’t be happy, but would be far angrier if he were cheating, seeking sex with other women, etc…

But how they both are related is that porn and adultery are BOTH forms of betrayal. You think you know the person you’re living with, but he is keeping a horrible secret from you, whether it be cheating, porn viewing, drug addiction, etc…the pain of being betrayed would still exist no matter what the secret is. I think the billboard is trying to make a strong point…BUT, porn really isn’t about a husband’s desire to replace his wife, it’s really more that he doesn’t have a healthy view of sex anymore, or he never did to begin with. I think that without a STRONG relationship to the Lord, I have no idea how these men who are addicted to this stuff ever break free. 😦

Interesting, rpp. *

And once again ma’am, you’ve spoken with wisdom, fairness, and clarity. Remind me never to get into an argument with you over anything. Anything. Anything at all.

*I will add one more thing…that perception is everything, though. Perception IS a person’s reality, so if a wife is feeling betrayed and replaced by porn…even though porn is so bad on a variety of levels…that is ultimately what matters, thus the billboard. I had a good friend who’s husband viewed porn, and he would sing in the choir at our parish. She was beside herself, and she said she couldn’t believe it when she found her husband’s stash of magazines, etc…she perceived it all as cheating…as he lied, and almost led a double life behind her back, when she went to bed.

So, while it’s not cheating, it betrays a woman, gives her a fatal blow to her self esteem, and undermines marriage. Pretty much what an affair(s) would do to a woman. Strange how they are the different, yet so much the same. :o*
