I was out of town this weekend and found a parish to go to Mass on Sunday.
I was disturbed to find individual practicing Intinction (Dipping the consecrated host into consecrated wine) I saw one person do it and thought it was very odd then noticed many other take Communion in the hand then walk over to the extraordinary minister and dip the consecrated host into the consecrated wine. Some made sure it did not drip by scraping the host on the edge of the “Glass Challis” others just put their hand under the host in case it dripped.
I take the host on the tongue because I do not think I am worthy to hold my God in my hands, and that is my decision, but I am sure that it is not respectful and may even be blasphemy to allow the precious blood to drip on either the hand or the floor.
I think I have to at least send the Paster a letter and maybe even to the Bishop.
Is this practice wide spread, I was in Southern California, and this was the first time I have seen it.
Please help,
