What a lovely testimony!

Sad to say, there is always a new hatching around the next corner, but maybe somebody prayed for you, instead of reacting with more criticism . . turning the other cheek. đŸ˜‰

I agree that peace, clarity, hope and focus are more important that being doctrinally pure and winning the argument at all costs. Can you share some key points from the books?
I would first say that pure Catholic doctrine is realizable, and that it truly does give peace. But how it is presented is oftentimes the problem. Also, WRT Phariseeism, we can often forget that the Catholic truth is a gift from God and not something that is our own. Being aware of the fullness of truth is both a consoling and horrifying thing: consoling because it is the surest means of knowing God’s will for you and mankind, terrifying because you are responsible for sharing this truth with other souls who are seeking. But the overarching reality is that you are a sinner who has done his/her darnedest to run away from the light of Christ. It is only by God’s chasing after you that you know these truths. Our joy is in the fact that God reaches down to us and calls us to conversion, not that we have the character and personal fortitude to be holy on our own.

If you are arguing from a sense of superiority, smugness, or condescension, then you are not of Christ - even if you are doctrinally correct. Truth without charity is pride.

WRT the talks (not books :)) there are too many points to write out. I would be typing for a while, and my 4 boys want me to spend this Saturday with them, not at the computer.

Well, thanks for sharing anyway, and go have a great day with your boys! I appreciate your good thoughts.
