How would you respond to this comment?

Behold, only this have I found out: God made mankind straight, but men have had recourse to many calculations.
What in the world does this have to do with infant baptism? Ecclesiastes is about wisdom and knowledge, prudence and virtue. It has zero to do with baptism.

Now 1 Corinthians 6, that’s another story…

***That is what some of you used to be; but now you have had yourselves washed, you were sanctified, you were justified **in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. *

Baptism does nothing huh? How about John 13:8…

*Unless I wash you, you will have no inheritance with me. *

Partially because it has nothing to do with baptism.
THe KJV has the verse
Behold, this only have I found: that God made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions.

I can only guess because you haven’t been clear what the verse is suppose to be but I suppose it is suppose to be a condemnation of the Church for it’s “inventions”
However the word used is logismos means 1) a reckoning, computation 2) a reasoning: such as is hostile to the Christian faith 3) a judgment, decision: such as conscience passes

I don’t see how it is translated invention.

How many kids get sick from baptism? I would be surprised if that were even a discernible number.

When I defend infant baptism, I just explain the Church’s teaching. Men are born with a stain on their souls. This stain is from Original sin. Baptism washes our souls clean and this sacrament was given to us by Jesus, Himself. If they don’t believe our souls were affected by sin, then there is a bigger problem to address.

I have not read the Didache, but I am told that is gives directions for baptism from the 1st century.
