I posted this in AAA but I don’t think it went because I took too long and got logged off.
I am a Catholic mom. We are teaching our kids what their baptism did for them and why we do infant baptism because some of their friends are asking. We read about the circumcision being the way to bring Jewish infants into the covenant and how that is one basis for infant baptism. My daughter and I wonder what ceremony brought Jewish females into the covenant. We now baptize all infants but what did the Jews do?

All jewish infants I believe were required to be “Presented” in the temple on the 8th day after birth and the required offering was made.

Interesting, I thought it was only the first male. Anyone know?

I know that all Jewish males were circumcised but I do not know about the presentation and sacfrifice on the 8th day for both sexes.
I really hope someone here knows!

Isn’t there a feast of the Presentation of Mary ? Can’t remember when and I could be mis-remembering.
