Just curious if anyone else has a special attachment to or devotion to the Infant of Prague? It’s so funny. A couple of years I saw a picture at an antique show and was just so drawn to it. I really didn’t know what it was but when I turned it over, it said on the back, Infant of Prague. It was a very different kind of picture (an icon maybe?) and it was before I was at all involved in Catholicism. While I do now have a medal, prayer card and small statue of the Infant of Prague, there is part of me that will always be so sorry I didn’t get that picture. I’m sure it wasn’t more than a few bucks!

Just wondering anyone else is drawn to him or has any interesting stories to tell.

Count me in! The first prayer card that I picked out as a little girl that I remember was the Infant of Prague. I didn’t even consider any of the other cards competition for Him 🙂 I love him so much ❤️ and have a picture of him on my home altar. The adoration chapel I went to as a teen had a rather life-sized statue that I enjoyed seeing when coming in and going out of the chapel. I really should make another novena to Him. I have heard many miracles associated with Him, and, I can’t remember who, but someone on EWTN was encouraging everyone to have an image of the Infant of Prague in their house. Funny… my hubby and I were just talking about how I started my devotion to Him last night!
 
I’m devoted to Him too!!Specially because He performed a miracle on me.When I was born I had a problem on my feet that made me unable to walk.My parents prayed to Him to help me to walk,and the miracle happened!!!On our local church there’s a small niche dedicated to Him,and He’s surrounded of toys people give Him to thank for a miracle.I gave Him a little funny purple elephant,And is still there.Now people say when the priest opens the church,he always find the toys everywhere,it is said that He plays with them during the night.🙂
 
I know most children have teddy bears or other soft toys to sleep with but when I was really little (about 2 years old) I used to sleep with statues of The Infant Jesus of Prague, St. Joseph and Our Lady of Lourdes. This was my choice and I have no idea why. I carried the statue of The Infant Jesus around everywhere with me (much to my mother’s embarrassment), “talked” to him constantly and he never once got damaged, not even a scratch… Amazing, really! I still have a great fondness for The Infant Jesus. I want to buy a really nice chaplet of The Infant Jesus of Prague and am starting to save for it.

The Holy Infant Jesus of Prague

Every Day! Also have a statue of the Infant Jesus in my Shrine.
 
One of my mother’s aunts had an Infant of Prague shrine in her house. I say “shrine” because her statue was about a foot and a half tall in a glass case, and he had a wardrobe of appropriate color vestments, beautifully made by Aunt Nellie, for every feast day and time of the liturgical year. He was lovely.
 
I quite “accidentally” saw a documentary by Bob and Penny Lord on the Infant Jesus of Prague this weekend 🙂 Then we went to the local monastery gift shop and purchased a little statue of Him. My 13-month old son immediately wanted to play with Him and I decided to take a chance and let him hold Him. He was so gentle in handling the statue, turning it over in his hands, inspecting it very closely, and smiling from ear to ear. When I took it away, my son started crying, and I decided it was OK for him to hold a little longer. Eventually he tried to put the statue’s head in his mouth and bite it, so I had to do a little rescue mission :eek: and luckily no harm was done. Unfortunately my son was very, very upset that he couldn’t hold Him anymore. I learned my lesson, and I’m not going to let him hold it again until he’s quite a bit older!!

I loved reading the other stories posted here! I am going to make a Chaplet to the Infant of Prague and can’t wait to get started! I found the most adorable little medal for it, too (it’s not oval, but shaped like the Infant with red coloring on his robe) 🙂
 
As a very young girl, attending Catholic school, I would stop at the church every afternoon on my way home. I was attached to the Infant of prague statue at the side altar. I would sit and talk to Him, then run on home. To this day I have a very special love for this Infant. I knew He represented the infant Jesus and felt He was the most beautiful image in the world. I hope that one day I can return to the church with the beautiful Infant. I have never seen a statue as beautiful as that one.

I don’t have a strong to devotion to the Child Jesus, but I do have a little one, and didn’t realize that devotion to him was widespread at all. Always thought I was the only one. I need to pray that novena sometime.
