I don’t remember if I came to update about my situation. So after our 2nd miscarriage, I had several tests done, which all came back normal. I have an HSG (hysterosalpingogram) scheduled for the 13th this month, and from there a possible surgery. The drs think I have a septate uterus which can be surgically corrected and it’d increase my chances of delivering a baby. Right now, the statistics show that I have a 20% chance of having a baby, and with the surgery an 80% chance! But that’s w/o endometriosis. With the endo I don’t know how the stats change, but according to my OB and another 2 I saw, the endo won’t cause problems since I have been able to get pregnant twice (but miscarried both).
Praying! God Bless You, your Husband! 3 children with the Lord love you, praying for you.:gopray2: :angel1: :angel1: :angel1:

Thank you so much for posting the article on this forum. it was very uplifting for me. I am 27 years old and my husband is 41. We have been trying to conceive for 2 1/2 years now. I had a surgery when I was 5 years old that caused a lot of scar tissue around my fallopian tubes. I had fluid backed up into my Right fallopian tube which the doctor said that may have been contributing to my infertility, so he took out my right fallopian tube. He also had to unblock my left fallopian tube, but does not know how long it will stay open. He says we have a 40% chance of getting pregnant. I am praying everyday for my ability to accept what ever God’s will is for my life. I will not give up hope- please pray for my husband and I . Thanks and God Bless.
Praying for You, and your husband. God Bless.

For those of you people who jumped on the iPhone bandwagon… I found an app that may help with NFP… PeriodicRED (weird name i know)… anywho… this may help those who don’t have time to take the classes.

i’m not sure if this will help you cgrossarth, but it may help (that is if you have an iphone). I’ll be praying for you and your husband.

A slight misunderstanding, Darth. NFP is a system to Avoid pregnancy by finding the Woman’s Fertile Period, to avoid intercourse. This thread is for Marrieds Who have difficulty Conceiving, or have Miscarriages.

Prayers are highly welcome, as are the Medical tips here.

Actually… NFP can be used both ways. I recently attended an Engagement Encounter Retreat that promoted NFP as a responsible way to plan a Family using the only Catholic Approved way of Birth Control. NFP will help you identify a time when you want to either “try” or “avoid” conceiving a child.

So yes… you are correct that it is used to avoid pregnancy, but at the same time it is used to increase the chances of pregnancy.🙂

Thanks- most of us do know this about NFP already. My cycles are regular- in fact, usually textbook. Still infertile after 4.5 years whether we chart and time everything or not.

Sorry, I do not mean to offend anyone. I was hoping to contribute by adding an additional resource. That was the only purpose of my post.

It was nice to see the link, but it looks like it might just be based on what is commonly called “The Rhythm Method” or “Calendar Rhythm.” Those methods are based on averages. Very few ladies are average. I still recommend that everyone take a class. Who knows, in a few generations we might be back to mothers teaching daughters the information on fertility and baby making, only it will be more accurate than in generations past. I have hope! 👍

True! Counting days often did Not work. The Catholic NFP is Scientific; working With God’s wonderful creation, to avoid copulation at the Woman’s fertile days.

Scientific type measurement, rather than “Roman Roulette” of earlier times.

I haven’t read all the posts in this thread.

My wife and I, unable to conceive, viewed our infertility as a message from Heaven that there were other children in third world countries who needed our loving home.

Adopted as babies, our Korean son is now 13, and our Chinese daughter is now 10.

There is no way we could love them any more if they had been birthed by us. You will love your adopted kids just as much as if they were your biological kids. Don’t be afraid that you won’t love them, you will.

Also, if we had not adopted them, they would never have had a good life in the USA, they never would have known the Catholic faith, and would have died, unbaptized, in countries with primitive healthcare and very limited opportunities for happiness.

Don’t be afraid to adopt! It’s wonderful! In our 28 years of marriage, we have never been happier. Is God sending you a message in your infertility? Don’t deny yourself the wonderful vocation of parenting.

God bless you and the children who are waiting for you…

God Bless you and your Wife! You and your Children are proving that Each child is the most important Child in the Universe, including those born in Heaven, and eternally with the Lord. :angel1: :heaven:

Infertility is generally meant to mean that a couple is not able to conceive a child after 12 months of normal reproductive activity.
Actually, infertility is not just not being able to conceive. We are able to conceive but not able to pass the 1st trimester. That is infertility as well. Not being able to have a child of your own is infertility.

But either way, both you & your wife, and my dh and me have had a painful path into parenthood.

I am glad though that you were able to adopt your girls. God bless you for adopting! My dh and I can’t adopt for immigration issues. That was our next step, but now it’s not even possible that way.

I am just joining this thread. I didn’t know it was here until someone in a different thread mentioned it. My DH and I have been TTC for five and half years and I have had two surgeries. Praying with the rest of you that children will blessed to us and to you soon!:signofcross: :gopray2:

Me too. I joined a thread only to find this one too. We are 3 yrs trying with Endo and a bunch of other things. Endo being the main one. 😛 Our chances are almost non existent for conceiving. Even less for carrying to 9mo. I join you in praying for all TTC. Do any of you have emotional or social problems due to NGP? We do. It’s really strengthened our marriage going through them together. So there’s good even in the midst of the not so good. 🙂

Welcome to the 2 of you! Sorry you have to be a part of this thread :hug1: This thread is not too active, but once in a while I come here, and I know the other people do too if someone posts.

BGR8FUL: I noticed on another thread you were wondering about Dr. Hilgers. He is the one that has done both of my surgeries. He performed an ovarian wedge resection, lapro for endo, and cleared my tubes (first surgery), (second surgery) he did another lapro to explore and found mild endo, cleared my tubes and inflamation in my uterus. He told me that probably the reason some of my endo returned was because I have a low immune systerm. I do monthly charting (over the phone) with him and P+7 lab work. I live six hours away so it was quite a trek but I wanted someone who was going to do the surgery right without recurrance of endo and scar tissue. He is very easy to work with and he is very caring. He is right now in the process of starting a new research and collecting data on using a low dose of cortisone. I am one of his test patients. He thinks this may help with the inflamation. I haven’t started the medication yet but will be next cycle. He had me fill out a questionaire and do some lab work. This all showed that I have adrenal fatigue or a decreased adrenal reserve. The low dose of cortisone has proven to work for 62% of women in the research he has done. I hope it works for me. I am so sick of medication. Where do you live?

Dear Pjlagein
I just noticed that you work with Hilgers. I just started on NaProTechnology. I have minimal endo and only one fallopian tube left. I find it difficult to learn about the mucus signs etc but I guess I will learn:)
We live in Denmark and our teacher and doctor is in Holland so most our teaching is going on over Skype. I REALLY hope they can help us. I would love to have this testing of the falopian tube where they check the pressure too. Do you have any idea how much that stuff costs? And a question. Is it true that they need blood tests from every second day of a cycle? I wonder how that works out with peoples’ work scedules…
Best Wishes
Amber

Amber2,

I have been working with Dr. Hilgers for three years. I had an ovarian wedge resection done three years ago and that was about $33,000 (approx.). Last fall I had a laproscopy done and he also checked my tubes and that was about $20,000 (approx.). I am not sure on all the cost because I am just going off the top of my head. On the question about doing lab work every second day, I haven’t had to do that. I just do lab work P+7. Dr. Hilgers is testing my hormone levels each month at the same time but not every second day. Right now he has started me on Hydocort. He has been doing research on infections in the uterus so he has started a new study using this medication.

Best wishes to you.

Jen
