Does anyone know about the founder of a program called JustFaith?
It is being promoted in our Archdiocese here in New Orleans.
But I have learned of some questionable past activities/affiliations of its founder, Jack Jezreel with a group whose members and supporters were finally excommunicated.

I am wondering why the Archdiocese here is promoting him.

Any info will be appreciated.
This is causing me much concern.

Thanks,
Yayi

Here are links to a critique and to an earlier discussion on the subject on CAF:

I have heard great things about it and know a lot of people who have participated in it and thoroughly enjoyed it. They all say it was a profound and remarkable experience. I started it a few years ago at a parish near us, but had to drop out due to other commitments.

I’ve never heard anything about excommunication even being remotely connected to it. Where did you hear such a thing?

In a Catholic News Service article of 2006 I read that in 1996 Lincoln Nebraska’s Bishop excommunicated members and/or supporters of a group named Call to Action. The Vatican upheld that decision. Jack Jezreel, founder of JustFaith, was a Call to Action speaker in the mid 1990’s. I continue to ask and wonder that Jezreel wasn’t aware of the problem with Call to Action when he agreed to speak there as late as mid 1990’s. JustFaith is part of the Industrial Areas Foundation and directs its’ graduates to some anti-Catholic belief groups in order to satisfy their new “passion” for the poor. Being funded by the Catholic Campaign for Human Development as JustFaith is doesn’t necessarily mean a program is all that Catholic. Remember CCHD is the group that funded ACORN for years and they only ended that funding in Nov. 2008. How many fraudulent voter registrations were gotten with Catholic funds–not to mention how many abortions? I have read of pastors letting their parishioners know that while we will have the CCHD 2nd collection the pastor would say that he himself has stopped funding the CCHD.
Are you familiar with EWTN? Raymond Arroyo of that station has asked -what are the US Bishops thinking?
I want to know the motives of all the groups. And I want to know the Catholic standing of Jezreel.

Look up some of the groups I mentioned. You might be surprised with all the interconnections. And not all are faithful to Catholic beliefs.
Some push their own motives on the backs of the poor–remember when Judas wanted to sell the oil and “give the money to the poor”? Jesus saw through the motives in Judas’ seemingly good idea.

Sounds as though your mind is made up, though the thoughts you offered here seem really tangential to the issue of the JustFaith program. Why don’t you ask your archdiocese why they are promoting it in light of your concerns? I think that would be really interesting to hear how they respond. Thanks.

I did ask my archdiocese. They forward my questions to the CCHD office. But CCHD are the promoters of JustFaith. CCHD office gave me Jezreel’s e-mail so I asked him at that address–no reply.
My mind isn’t made up but I must admit I am suspicious so I know I will not participate in JustFaith. I hope that those who do are not being used for and in less than Catholic ways. Sometimes the interconnections of organizations is surprising.
Thank you for your reply. This whole thing about Call to Action and Jezreel’s possible connection and possible excommunication and then my Archdiocese promoting one of his programs has become quite unsettling to me.
God bless you.
