Hi There- I currently have a “New Jerusalem Bible” and am looking into getting the 1966 version “Jerusalem Bible” There are a couple hard back ones on eBay, one a green cover, the other red,(with the distinctive cross)- how do I know which one has full notes- I’ve decided (after reading some of the posts here) that I’d like to have one that doesn’t have abridged notes. Could someone spell out the various differences of them all? Too new at this to get it straight! LOL Thanks bunches!

The 1966 version comes in several forms. The one with all the notes is the Red/Maroon hardback with the Jerusalem Cross on the cover. I own several. They are excellent! 👍

The Philippine Bible Society has a facsimile reprint of the 1966 JB as well.

Just my 2-cents’ worth: you appear to be on a trajectory similar to the one I followed, viz, bought a NJB, got disenchanted because of the inclusive language, decide to procure an unabridged 1966 JB. FYI - the 1966 is, unfortunately, more paraphrastic than the NJB. It DOES read VERY smoothly, but there’s no way you’ll ever mistake it - or the NJB, for that matter - for an accurate, trustworthy translation.
