Thank you all for the suggestions and kind words. Fortunately I have a dear friend at work whose excited to be my RCIA sponsor, and I’m diving in to all these great leads for more info. Can’t wait! :hugs:

I am very interested in converting to Catholicism, but where do I even start? There is so much information and so much to learn. Prayers please.
I’ve given the following advice to Catholics here who have asked about converting to the Lutheran tradition: it is at least as important to know what you are leaving as it is to know what you are moving toward.
Make sure you’ve spoken to your priest/ pastor/ minister. Then make use of the new member program the Catholic Church offers: RCIA.
Bless you on your journey.

I agree with many of the others on this. I’ve been pursuing Catholicism for years and feel no pressure to “learn everything”. It’s been a relaxing and enjoyable venture which I intend to maintain for the rest of my life. The difference between us is that I feel no rush to formally become RC. But I think you can relax a great deal more about it without feeling guilty or that you are coming up short. A very fine book by Protestant pastor and writer, Warren Wiersbe, is titled “God isn’t in a Hurry”. He is absolutely right. 🙂

Remember, you don’t have to eat the whole cake at once. Start with little bites. RCIA will help introduce you to what you basically need to know. Call your local parish and find out when classes start.

I am a cradle Catholic and a senior, senior citizen now.

I assure you it is enough to learn the important basics first, and then you have the rest of your life to learn more. I am still learning a lot of new things and benefit from it, especially inspiring books by saints and their lives.

Year ago we had “converts catechisms” of sorts. Like the penny catechesim. Just the basics and essentials.
