Hi,

I found an informative series of articles on Islam

“Islam for Infidels,” a three-part series by Hugh Fitzgerald

you might want to check them out

Infidels? Do you know how that term came about? The Crusaders used to call all Muslims in Jerusalem infidels. We don’t believe non-Muslims are infidels. Also if anyone wishes to sincerely learn about Islam, jihadwatch isn’t the best palce to go.

Doesn’t the Quran often use the word “infidels” or “unbelievers” to refer to non-Muslims? Doesn’t it often use the Arabic word “kuffar” (plural of “kafir”) to refer to non-Muslims? Isn’t “kuffar” translated as “infidels” or “unbelievers”?

I would like to know what was false in the links posted by ‘dignity’. I read them and found them very believable, if there is misinformation in them please point it out.

They deliberately misquote and take out of context the muslim teachings on war. There is no possible way to read the sources like they do.

I can’t for the life of me figure out why, if people want to know what muslims think, they don’t just go look at Muslim sources.

Maybe because Muslims are told that it’s okay to lie to unbelievers!

What is the correct teaching of Islam on war?

Okay, here’s the conundrum: If you think all muslim texts which are available to unbelievers are lies, then how do you know what the “real” muslim texts teach?

A further question: How does the publisher of an muslim book, say of commentary on the Quran, know if his book will be read by infidels or muslims?

The theory that muslims are all lying in every single one of their traditional schools of thought is quite tough to maintain, if you stop to think about it.

All killing of noncombatants is forbidden. Most of the major schools consider it an offense even to kill civilians accidentally in the course of a military strike.

The article explains it extremely well, and cites a lot of the verses that “jihadwatch” articles do to arrive at the opposite conclusion. Apparently, the only place where islam teaches violence is on Jihadwatch…actual muslims have never had a theology like the one Spencer and Fitzgerald have invented.

pro,

So even though they claim they are doing the will of Allah, as is faithfully recorded in the Quran, Islamic terrorist are not Muslim? Is this basically what you are saying? In light of all the evidence that certain Muslims do teach violence I find it hard to believe that Jihadwatch can be referred to as the “only” source of such a teaching.

Jihadwatch and Al Qaeda, but even Al Qaeda’s teaching is not quite what Jihadwatch claims it to be.

I do not think it’s controversial to claim that radicals would illegitimately dress up in religious clothes to do harm, and that’s what’s happening with the islamist gangs as far as I can see.

Well, then they should jolly well practice what they preach! Actions speak a lot louder than words!

Thanks for the link. I wish more of the radical Islamist would read and believe this. Do you have any suggestions as to how to get these ideas across to members of The Taliban, Hamas, Al-Qaeda and others of their ilk?

If I had a really good idea on how to do that, I’d be famous!

Seriously though, I think Saudi Arabia is a key player in funding those other groups…so even if we won’t get the message across to current members, we might stunt future growth by dealing with the sources of radicalism.

I agree. It is difficult at best to change the minds of adults but if we can control the radicals for another few years and educate the kids then there is a chance we can avoid an all out war between Islam and the rest of the world. Let’s both pray that people smarter than us can find a solution to the mess we find ourselves in.

Kaffir literally means to cover, sound similar right? Kafir cover? Because we believe the Kafir covers the belief in God in his heart. It doesn’t mean infidel. A Kafir can be my best friend, my mother, my father and we are to treat differently according to these two verses:

060.008
Allah forbids you not, with regard to those who fight you not for (your) Faith nor drive you out of your homes, from dealing kindly and justly with them: for Allah loveth those who are just.
060.009
Allah only forbids you, with regard to those who fight you for (your) Faith, and drive you out of your homes, and support (others) in driving you out, from turning to them (for friendship and protection). It is such as turn to them (in these circumstances), that do wrong.

Kafir is a derivation of kufar which has the root word kafara (consonantal k f r ) which means to “cover”. It means to cover or hide the truth - i.e. disbelief.

So if I call a Muslim a Kaffir he won’t mind? Maybe he will thank me for the compliment?

Yes we are Kaffirs in your religion. We disbelieve in it.

Which major schools consider it an offense even to kill civilians accidentally in the course of a military strike? Give me the names of the major schools and give me proof that they consider it an offense even to kill civilians accidentally in the course of a military strike.
