Hi y’all. I’m back (I was going to take a week-long “vacation” from the forum … but today I was missing it and thought "Well, a ‘week’ often means just 5 days right?’ :)) and I have an interesting piece I’d like to share:

Informed Opinion

The author cites an interesting study about political views, but then talks about it in relation to other matters such as religious views – which is fine by me, given me propensity for conversing with NC (a.k.a. Non-Catholics).

If that’s your opinion, I beseech you, in the bowels of Christ, think it possible you may be mistaken.

For anyone that may have missed it, the linked article is from 2010.

True, but since the subject of the article is not current affairs, but rather a proclivity for those with specific ideologies not to believe contradictory facts, I don’t see why the date matters. I have found the information to be pretty much accurate. People don’t give a hoot about facts if they go against their personal ideology.

Since I’ve been here one amazing thing is that people come up with there own definition of certain words instead of what’s in the dictionary in order to support some view. They attempt to change the meaning of adultery on one thread, and the pro-lifers try to change the definition of baby from the dictionary definition.

What do the pro-lifers try to change it to?

Hello Duane,

Webster definition: an extremely young child; especially :* infant (2)
The pro-lifers redefine the word to what Webster would define as a fetus.

Perhaps I should have added that I also like conversing with Non-Protestants.

Good one…you got me there! Of course though, we all feel God is on our side?
That being said, I’ll add that I don’t claim to have such a direct line to God. (It wouldn’t be humble for me to say that.)

Hello Superwimp,

Look up how Webster’s defines pregnant.
Code:
1. (of a woman or female animal) **having a child or young developing in the uterus**: "a pregnant woman" synonyms: expecting a baby, expectant, **CARRYING A CHILD,** expecting, in the family way, ... more
Specifically calls it a child. So let’s see how it defines fetus.
an unborn offspring of a mammal, in particular an unborn human baby more than eight weeks after conception.
.

Seemingly, Webster’s calls it a human baby also.

Wait, you’re a non-Protestant too? We have so much in common!
You know what? We do. But the last while here it seems like non-catholics are not that welcome. This particular forum is for comparing and contrasting ideas not slam banging each other.

reminds me irreverently of the sentence in a schoolchild’s essay… “The fireman came down the ladder pregnant”… the definition she had found of “carrying a child”
