It does depend on the children, but I’m sure my parents thought they could trust my sister.

And stipulating in the will that anyone who complained got cut out of the will was a horrible idea. It gave her carte blanche to do whatever she wanted. I had no recourse concerning any decisions that she made.

As for everything being appraised, the amounts from a previous appraisal were actually tacked on the bottoms of the pieces she gave away for free.
GAH!

My mom and dad had a trust. After dad died (after mom), it was very easy to take care of everything. My older brother and my younger brother were trustees, and all three of us were beneficiaries. The biggest conflict we had was my oldest brother did a lot of work getting the house ready for sale and other things, but wouldn’t take any additional money for it. Said the trust had to be divided evenly. So, yes, he took* less* money than I wanted him to.

So, my wife and I just finished creating our trust, putting our assets (such as they are) into it, and telling our twenty-something kids where everything is. Everyone should do it if they have kids. And, make lists of bills, insurance policies, etc.
