Innocence as children vs. Infantilism (lack of understanding)

This evening I heard an interesting take about Christian Innocence we are all called for from a priest on the radio. He said Christ does call us to be sinless as children (in terms of forgiven sins, effort to never sin again) but He does not want us to be infantile, lack understamding about His laws, and why Holy Mother Church teaches us certain things we have to go look deep into our hearts and theological books to understand. The priest said this makes sense regarding why God wanted the remdepted Adam and Eve versus Adam and Eve in their original state, as babes, who would just love and obbey Him without a necessary understanding as to why He imposese His laws and rules.
