My father never spoke a word about Christ, Christianity, Mary, Hell, Heaven, or any other Catholic concepts.
Yet he personified the love of Christ. My friends say to me now “but your father was such a nice guy. I really enjoyed going to your house when we were teenagers”. When he died, a light definitely went out. His warmth is sorely missed by all.
He ran St. Vincent de Paul as President for 20 years. He visited the sick in Hospital on Sunday mornings after Mass. He never missed Mass or tithing. He almost never got angry at us. And I don’t think there was any unexpressed anger either. he just didn’t get angry. He loved jokes and friendly chats. He never took himself seriously nor have a big ego.
Yet some Christians doubt that He will get to heaven?"If he doesn’t get to Heaven, then that is bad news for 90% of the population.

That’s rather presumptuous of them.
Who said that to you?
And what was their thinking?
If it was the type of Protestant who thinks Catholics aren’t Christians, feel free to dismiss them.
They are sincere, but sincerely wrong.
And if somebody is giving you grief, just tell them to knock it off.

If he ran St Vincent de Paul at your church then he was a Catholic obviously and he sounds as though he was great. I don’t see why anyone would say he wouldn’t go to heaven. Sounds wrong to me.

Have faith, I’m sure he’s there or very close to going there. Why not say a prayer for him too.
Peace be with you.

Jesus told St. Faustina that at the hour of death He would be His own Apostle. Your father sounds like a wonderful man. You said he personified the love of Christ.

I would assume that when he saw Jesus at his death that he also loved Jesus. Even though he didn’t talk about it, it sounds like he had faith. Pray for him and trust in God’s mercy.🙂

And welcome back, Ron.

yeah they were Protestant come to think of it. “He must accept Jesus Christ as His Saviour. it’s not enough to be a nice guy.”
The guy was all walk and no talk. I’d say this is the perfect candidate for heaven.

Generally, it’s best to ignore whatever it is the infamous “some people” say. “Some people” tend to be wildly off base more often than not…
