I figured that you wouldn’t. I have a friend who uses the classical, but I always use the soft c. 😛
Yes, in fact I use the common (english) pronounciation of the c as an s.

Personally, I prefer Ecclesiatical Latin, since it is much softer then English (coming primarily from Germanic). Classical Latin on the other hand is harder, more rough in my opinion.

This makes me think of the discussion with my Deacon in front of my son (an altar server) on the appropriate pronunciation for the ciborium. I was for the hard C while the Deacon was for the soft c more like “see-borium”. I told my son that considering he wants to go to the seminary in Rome when he is older he should start using the hard C.

Yes, I studied classical Latin and for that I am a Traditionalist.😃

As a traditionalist, I feel we should use ecclesiastical pronunciation. Ignoring that in favor of classical would be antiquarianism.😉 Accordingly, if one is using the English pronunciation, the c is soft (s), if Latin, using our proper ecclesiastical usage, it is not a hard k sound but a ch and thus “chiborium.” (c followed by an e, i, or ae/oe makes a ch sound).

Now I have to go do penance for allowing myself to contribute to bringing this thread soooooo off topic.😛

I was talking about a ch sound instead of a k sound. You made the difference clearer. Thanks.

I recieved the Vocations package months ago and have been talking with Msgr. Schmitz since then. He is just sending me the questionnaire now.
I am in contact with Msgr. Schmitz as well and he mentioned a one or two page resume. Would this be an actual resume or a pseudo-autobiographical spiritual resume? Vocations applications aren’t exactly the same thing as a job application. :o

I sent him a short spirituality-oriented auto-biography, with a paragraph about my education, and a and list paragraph for my work experience. He never mentioned anything about a specific number of pages, and althougather my submission was not even a single page. There is a questionnaire though- have you recieved that yet?

Out of curiosity, when are you apply for entrance in the preformation program?

Ah, good thing I already wrote one of those for another place, I may have to tweak it a bit but thats good.
I haven’t received the questionnaire yet, he is sending that in the next email.

I am applying for as soon as possible. I am going to apply to Christendom if this doesn’t work out for a sooner time table. I was at Ave Maria until I had to leave for family reasons, but I didn’t mind much because of the rampant heresy and sacrilege there.

Ah, very good.

I am applying to the preformation for september 2008. I hope this works out or else I may have to spend a few years in university to enter the FSSP.

I know, I would prefer to not have to go through more university nonsense. I already had more than enough of that at AMU. And I truly don’t want to have to be another “cog in the machine” until a spot opens up with the Institute.
Why can’t I just know Divine Providence beforehand? 😛

Yes, I know how you feel 😉
