Instructions for Novena to the Holy Spirit

Although I have done some novenas I still feel like an ‘amature’ and am not sure I do them exactly right. I’d like to do the novena to the Holy Spirit this year. Could someone tell me what day it begins (day after ascension?) on and on what day it ends (Pentecost or day before?)? Any other general tips would be greatly appreciated.

Normal procedure is that last day of a novena is the day BEFORE whatever feast (in this case Pentecost), so you’d begin it on Friday (day after Ascension). In other words you pray the prayer nine times (novem in latin, hence novena)

My understanding is that the Novena begins this year on Fri May 18 2007. Since I am both a Catholic and a geek, I have the Pentecost Novena set up as an Outlook appointment to remind me of the Novena (oh, heavens, am I a dork ).
