What is your favourite Instrumental CD/ album but not including classical music?
For examble - Mike Oldfield. Mannhiem Steamroller,Synergy.

Beyond Nature - Phil Keaggy (and lots more Keaggy)

Nightmare - Bruce Mathiske

Guitar for Mortals - Adrian Legg

Dozen a Day - David Gordon Trio (and lots more jazz)

Michel Legrand plays Michel Legrand

Probably lots more - must be some folk albums too but my brain is half-dead today.

John Michael Talbot has a series of instrumental cd’s which are beautiful. I have Hidden Pathways playing all the time. Also on my list:

William Ackerman - Passage
Will Millar (of Irish Rovers fame) - Celtic Whispers -
New Horizons - Nature’s Retreat
Narada compilation cd - Passion Music for Guitar

Liquid Tension Experiment!

It’s got Portnoy, Petrucci and Rudess from Dream Theater and Tony Levin who is brilliant on the Chapman Stick. It’s more or less entirely instrumental.

They have made 2 albums (both self titled, the second is called LTE2), the first is the better album, but my favorite song by them is called Acid Rain, the opener of the second album.

Although yea I like a lot of instrumental music besides LTE. Who has heard the instrumental piece called ‘Woodpecker from Mars’ by Faith No More? I reckon it is great (-:

Somewhere in Time soundtrack and A Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack

I always kinda liked Joe Satriani’s “Surfing with the Alien” 😃

Soundtrack to Fellini’s Casanova. I’m on my third or fourth copy.

I have two albumns that are both insturmental. The first one is by a hip hop sample based producer named DJ Shadow called Introducing. His musical landscape paints a dreamy, otherworldy, ambience that sure to satisfy any one’s imagination. He also is pretty good at putting together different drum sequences.

The second cd i have is from the House of Sand and Fog Soundtrack. There is a lot of serenity in the music. Its catharic piano keys play gently smoothing one moment then in the next the music becomes dark and melancholy. Its stimulating. I also want to get the Lord of the Rings soundtrack
