Ok, I have heard the Church insulted one too many times. I am really tired of it. In a conversation it gets brought up in a negative way for no apparent reason. Making fun of Communion, then “bad Catholic girls”, etc. We’ve all heard it. So I try not to bring the conversation down, but I do say that it offends me. Then I get the standard, "don’t worry, I believe in the same God you do, just not your Pope, who really isn’t part of the church anyway, but they don’t teach you that in catechism (smile).’ He was a non-Catholic. Still not wanting to bring the conversation to a fight, I say, I’m still offended, but will not discuss this here.
So here is my question to ya’ll. Do you just let it go with informing the person that you are offended or do you fight back? I am not a big fan of confrontation and am still studying my faith to really learn it. (I did have 2 Jehovah’s Witnesses walk away from me after I started explaining why I believe that the Church is the One True Church instituted by Christ and how the gates of hell shall not prevail against Her). How do ya’ll handle insults to the Church. I am torn. On the one hand, I feel that I should just state my feelings then pray for the person, but on the other hand I feel we are all called to defend the Church in such instances.
