Intent of going to confession

Hi, I’m a Mom of a bubbly 11 month old:) He’s my joy! I am wondering if I have had the intention of going to confession but haven’t the chance to go yet can I still receive commuinon? Its harder to go with my son and I didn’t know if I could bring him into the confessional with me? Can I bring him with me?
 
One cannot recieve the Eucharist if you’re in a state of mortal sin, barring grave circumstances. As for bringing your little one into the confessional, ask your priest. He’ll know better than internet people what he’s comfortable with.
 
Of course you can bring a pre-talking baby into the Confessional. You can bring your 8 year old or your teenager or your best friend if you don’t mind them hearing your confession AND if they abide by the seal.

The good thing with a baby/toddler is that it is easy to use words they do not understand for any sins against the 6th Commandment and they are not able to repeat what they hear 😉

Unless you are in danger of death, you need to seek absolution for your serious sins before you receive. Call the parish and ask if Father can hear your confession before or after Mass. Realize, that this is Holy Week and priests are sliced very thin so his schedule may be rather packed.

Many priests hear confessions on Good Friday, so, ask if he could before or after the liturgy might be a thought.
 
Okay thanks! Yes I shall have to! I have been intending to go, but I have either forgotten or else just haven’t gotten the chance. I have said the act of contrition which has given me some peace but I won’t feel better till I have gone to confession!🙂
 
I take babies into the confessional until they are old enough to repeat what I’ve said. 😉 I’ve never had a priest be unhappy about it, and several have even commented that they like that I bring my kids - it gets them used to it!

I’ve also had kids sit outside and wait for me (typically 4-5 and up.) This week will be busy for priests as mentioned, but if you (or any other parent of small children reading this) were to make an appointment, I’m sure a nice parish secretary would look after toddlers or preschoolers so a priest could hear your confession with a little more privacy.
 
Praying I’ll be to go this week…I have been super sad not being able to receive:/ hoping I’ll be able to make an appointment!🙂
 
It depends on whether or not you’re in a state of mortal sin. If you are, then you must confess before receiving. If you aren’t, then you do not have to confess before receiving.

You can absolutely bring your son in the confessional with you. It’s not like he’s able to break the seal of confession or anything. In fact, if you don’t have anyone to look after him in the church, you probably should take him into the confessional with you.
 
Okay thanks:)!! I do need to go to confession, hoping I can go Friday:/ because not receiving Jesus Christ at mass has been not fun:/ and I will be seeing family Sunday and going to mass with them so hoping I can get to confession because I don’t want have to explain to them they I couldnt receive commuinon…
 
It is no one’s business why you do not receive. If someone is rude enough to ask, tell them “that is between me and God”.
 
Made it to confession and got to finally receive Jesus Christ in the Eucharist:D after what seemed like a long wait for me:/
