Intentions in LOH

Hi,
I have heard that you are supposed to read the words in italics after the beginning of the intentions for morning and evening prayer in Liturgy of the Hours after each intention. I just recently prayed evening LOH with a priest and he only said it once. Which is correct? Thanks!
 
Well, I looked at the ordinary of the one-volume and one of the four-volume’s I have and the General Instruction of the Liturgy of the Hours and none of these sources said anything. When I’ve prayed the Divine Office in common with a priest from my diocese we only say it at the beginning. However, on iBreviary (an iPod app) the italics are shown after each intercession. My conclusion is that it is acceptable either way, but it would be nice to have an authoritative statement on it. I used to have a help-book, but it is not with me anymore, sorry.

Edit: From some internet searching it seems acceptable either way, but the proper response for your individual intercessions would be the italics.
 
That part is really intended as a response, which kind of only makes sense when praying the LOTH with an assembly; so reading it once in private recitation makes sense. The same goes for the responsories, they are optional for private recitation, and can be replaced by a time of silence instead.
 
I have the single volume from Catholic Book Publishing. General Principles on page 34 discusses this in section 5.
  1. The intercessions in a celebration with a congregation or in common are introduced by a brief invitation,given by the priest or minister and including the response to be made by the congregation after each petition.

Each intention consists of two parts; the second may be used as an alternative response.

Different methods can therefore be used for the intercessions. The priest or minister may say both arts of the intention and the congregation respond with a uniform response or a silent pause, or the priest or minister may say only the first parts of the intention and the congregation responds with the second part. It is permissibleto include paticular intentions at both Morning an Evening Prayer (nos 188, 190, 192, 193)

It doesn’t say what the nos refer to.
 
Either way is permissable, as Joe Kelley’s reference makes clear.
