Hello,

I am a catholic girl from India, in love with a Jain boy. We intend to get married. But I want the church to accept and approve our marriage. Is his conversion the only option for the church to give us the sacrament of marriage or is there any other option.

I love him deeply and dont want to leave him and hurt him. At the same time i do want the marriage to be blest. I dont think I want to force a conversion upon him cause I feel that such things cannot be forced upon anyone.

Any guidance in this regard will be appreciated. Please do keep me in your prayers.

Regards

Your Bishop will have to provide you with permission (a dispensation) to marry anyone who is not a Catholic. Make an appointment with your Priest, that is your first step.

On these forums you can read many people speak of mixed marriages. It is a difficult path you are looking at, and careful and prayerful discernment with your Priest is important.
