Regarding why we pray to Mary and the saints, as opposed to just going “straight to God”, I was thinking about it and had an insight I hadn’t really heard before. It seems to me that implicit in the protestant’s disagreement is the feeling it diminishes the power of Christ as being fully able to intercede without the help of the saints. Is it possible they feel that way? If so, my response is that Christ doesn’t need the assistance of the saints to *hear *our needs, but WE need their assistance in *voicing *those needs (well, we don’t need it but believe sure helps). Said succinctly, intercession is not to assist God, but to assist us. Is this a theologically sound viewpoint for me to express?
